Hair transplants surgery are not suitable for everyone. A good consultant in a reputable hair transplant clinic will take the interview several steps beyond just giving you information. A good surgeon will try and gauge your motivation for having the hair transplant done and will find out how realistic your expectations are for the hair transplant procedure. There are the five important factors that cause you are unsuitable hair transplant surgery are as follows:
|
Young adults even though already be showing a fair amount of
hair loss and with family history of extensive hair loss.
Such a person must realize that a hair transplant will not stop
further hair loss. In the early stages it is not possible to
identify the actual pattern of hair loss and the extent to which
it will occur. He may have to go for multiple FUHT procedures as
and when he loses more hair in future.
Number of donor hair follicles are limited & Area to cover is
large. A good hair transplant can look quite natural, but it will
never give you the hair density you had as a child.
Sometimes because the number of donor hair follicles are limited and the
area to cover is large, the surgeon has to resort to giving you
a higher hairline than normal or making the hair at the front
hairline more dense so that you can grow the hair long to cover
thinner areas on top. For these people, it is better in the
longer term that they do not receive a hair transplant.
Rapid hair fall
Going in for a hair transplant when one is experiencing hair
loss at a rapid pace is not advisable. It's like shooting at a
moving target. By the time the transplanted hair grows, your
hair loss may have progressed further.
Extensive hair loss
A person with extensive hair loss, should plan his hair
restoration very cautiously. It would not be beneficial to
transplant the available donor hair thinly all over the scalp. A
better option will be to go for aa denser hair coverage albeit
over a smaller area. This can be achieved by opting for a higher
hairline for example.
Patients suffering from hair loss due to various immunologic or endocrine pathologies, are not advised to go for hair transplants. Such pathologies include thyroid disorders, alopecia areata, alopecia globalis etc. The transplanted hair follicles would be just as susceptible to hair loss as all the other hair follicles. While hair transplantation is possible for most people with pattern baldness, not everyone is a good candidate.
