7. Hormonal changes causes hair loss

Hormonal changes and imbalances can irritation or damage some hair follicles, they will have a shorter growth phase and produce thinner, shorter hair shafts. This could be due to pregnancy, childbirth, discontinuation of birth control pills, the onset of menopause, or an overactive or underactive thyroid gland. 8. Alopecia areata

Scientists think Alopecia areata is an autoimmune disease where white blood cells from the immune system attack hair follicles and keep them from producing hairs. Hair loss tends to be rather rapid and often involves one side of the head more than the other. It is possible for hair to grow back, and in fifty percent of Alopecia Areata cases, hair grows back without any treatment within a year, and it is possible for the hair to fall out again. But 10% of people with the condition may never regrow their hair. If it hasn't after six months it might be worth considering treatment.

9. Poor nutrition causes hair loss
